Olivia's Day

Olivia had the camera on Friday. Our schedule is a little different on Friday than the rest of the week. We go to the library in the morning and in the afternoon, we go to the computer lab. This is our class in the library. Mrs. Learn is reading a story to us.
After we check out books, we sit on the carpet and read for a while.

We have been learning about the seasons. We made pictures for the 4 seasons and used Q-tips to paint.
Our letter of the week was X. We made these X-ray men. You can see their bones.
Thanks, Olivia, for taking some great pictures. Parents, remember next Thursday is the Easter Party. I sent a note home yesterday with details. Friday, there will be no school. You are all welcome to come to the Easter Party and help the kids hunt eggs.

School in the Dark and Madison's Day

I knew I was in for an adventure when I was told to bring a flashlight to school on Tuesday. The school had lost power during the night due to the storm. No one knew when it might be restored so we just did the best we could. At first, my classroom was really dark so we did "Art in the Dark".
Some of the boys stood by the window to draw. The biggest adventure was riding the school bus to the high school to eat lunch. The kids were so great. They were very well behaved and I was very proud of them.
When we got back to school, we were talking about what we could do and someone said, "Let's watch a movie." That sparked a great conversation about what you can and can't do when the power goes out. So we decided to write about it.
The best part of the day for me was going home at 12:30, but my high school kids had to stay at school. I got to enjoy a nice quiet house for a while.
Wednesday was Madison's day to be the photographer. Here's what she had to say.
We have reading stations every morning. We are in different teams and every team has work to do while Mrs. Kyle listens to kids read. Luke is doing the "Write, Stamp, Write" station. He is working on sight words.
Mrs. Kyle is listening to Caleb read.
In this station, we had to write sentences.

My favorite station is "Write the Room". We have to find words in the room that start with all the letters of the alphabet.

Luke's Day

Luke's day was very busy so he had a lot to say.We started the day by listening to the story by Dr. Seuss, "My Many Colored Days". It is about how different colors can make you feel different things. Mrs. Kyle told us to pick 4 colors and write about how each color made us feel.
Our class and Mrs. Brown's class and Mrs. Ray's class had to tell the school about the character trait of conviction. We practiced singing a song.
After we wrote sentences about 4 colors, we traced our hands 4 times and colored them with crayons and then painted over the whole thing with watercolor.
This is during our lesson about reading.
We are learning to count by 5's. We had jellybeans and put them in groups of 5.
Kase likes to build towers during center time.

Kase's Day

Kase's day was last Tuesday. I'm a little behind on posting the kid's pictures and they have been letting me know about it. Here is what Kase had to say about his day.
Thomas is hurrying to the carpet to hear the story.
During reading stations, we stamped the alphabet and sight words.
We read a book about volcanoes. Our letter this week is V.
We've been learning about shapes. We made a picture with shapes.
Paige looks tired.
Mrs. Kyle is making a chart with pictures of things that start with V.
Cooper had to leave early so we all said goodbye to him.
It was a good day. We all stayed on big green.
